Flower Beds in Bromley

Beds built as part of the garden's structure.

As local landscapers, we build flower beds across Bromley in brick and timber sleepers: long brick beds along a fence, sleeper beds beside a lawn, and raised beds that hold back a slope. Below are real gardens where we built them, with the prices.

Your garden, considered

Flower beds for Bromley's sloping and long gardens

In a garden that slopes, a raised bed does two jobs: it gives you somewhere to plant and it holds the soil where you want it. A bed built across the slope can create a level lawn below it, which is why we often plan beds and levels together on Bromley jobs.

For Gemma in Streatham we built two brick flower beds, each 7m long and 80cm wide, alongside a new Marshalls block paving patio and fencing. In Orpington, a raised sleeper bed sits beside the curved path and new turf in Harshad's garden. Brick suits a smart, permanent finish; sleepers suit a softer, quicker one.

Every bed we build is filled with fresh topsoil, and the waste from digging out is taken away as part of the price.

Choosing flower beds for a Bromley garden

The right bed depends on the look of the house, the slope and how much upkeep you want.

01

Brick beds

Built to last

Brick on a concrete footing, like Gemma's two 7m beds, or capped with coping, like the brick flower beds in Lewis's South Morden garden.

02

Sleeper beds

Warm and quick to build

Timber sleepers edge a lawn or path neatly, like the bed beside Harshad's curved path in Orpington and the beds framing Robert's lawn in Elmers End.

03

Beds around trees

Keeping what you have

A raised bed around an existing tree keeps it as a feature and stops the roots lifting the paving, as in Alice's Lewisham garden.

Footings, drainage and topsoil

Brick beds need a concrete footing so they do not crack or lean; sleeper beds need to be set level and fixed so they do not move. Where a bed holds back soil on a slope, we leave a way for water to escape, then fill with fresh topsoil so the planting drains well.

A few useful answers

Flower Beds in Bromley: your questions

Still deciding? Tell us about your garden and we can talk through the next step.

Read our warranty terms
How big can a brick flower bed be?

As long as the space allows. For Gemma in Streatham we built two brick beds, each 7m long and 80cm wide, along the sides of a new patio.

Can raised beds help with a sloping Bromley garden?

Yes. A raised bed built across a slope holds the soil back and can leave a level area below it for a lawn or patio.

Do brick flower beds need foundations?

Yes. We build brick beds on a concrete footing so they stay straight and do not crack.

How much does a garden with new flower beds cost?

Robert's sleeper beds and astro grass were £3,820, Alice's sleeper beds and porcelain £7,000 and Colleen's sleeper-edged beds, porcelain and fencing just under £9,000. You get a fixed price after the survey.

Can you build a raised bed around an existing tree?

Yes. In Alice's Lewisham garden we built raised sleeper beds along the side and around the tree at the end of the garden.

Will you fill the new beds with soil?

Yes. Every bed is filled with fresh topsoil, and the soil we dig out is taken away in the price.

Do you build flower beds in Hayes, Keston and Petts Wood?

Yes, and across all of Bromley BR1 and BR2, plus Chislehurst, Orpington and the rest of the borough.
