As local landscapers covering Streatham, we have built long brick flower beds, raised sleeper beds and beds either side of new lawns in Streatham and Streatham Hill. The featured garden below has a flower bed on each side of the grass.
In a long Streatham garden, beds along the sides do two jobs: they soften the fences and they lead the eye down the plot. On Mark's garden in Streatham Hill we laid an Indian sandstone path to the shed with a flower bed on each side of the new grass.
Brick gives a more permanent edge. In Gemma's Streatham back garden we built two brick flower beds 7m long and 80cm wide along the new closeboard fence, beside a Marshalls block paving patio.
With most gardens here on clay, we prepare the ground under each bed and fill it with fresh topsoil, so plants are not sitting in wet, heavy soil through the winter.
A 400mm dig-out and new block paving driveway with eco drains to a soakaway at the front, and closeboard fencing, a gate, two 7m brick flower beds and a Marshalls block paving patio at the back, in two weeks for £20,000 including VAT.
A full back garden transformation: new paving, new turf, brick walls, granite edging, raised sleeper beds, French drains and a new manhole cover, in 2 weeks for £15,760 including VAT.
A garden stripped back and rebuilt in two weeks: a rendered retaining wall, around 20m² of curved beige porcelain, a 4m x 4m composite deck, steps, new turf and circular flower beds.

Materials & possibilities
Brick or sleeper beds in Streatham
Both suit Streatham gardens. The choice comes down to the look you want and the rest of the materials in the garden.
01
Brick beds
Permanent and formal
Gemma's two brick beds are 7m long and 80cm wide, built along the new fence in Gemma's Streatham back garden.
02
Sleeper beds
Natural timber
Andrew's Streatham garden has raised sleeper beds alongside brick walls and granite edging.
03
Beds beside a lawn
Soft and simple
Mark's Streatham Hill garden has a bed on each side of the grass, framing the path to the shed.
Beds on Streatham clay
A bed simply filled on top of compacted clay can hold water like a tray. We break up the ground underneath, fill with fresh topsoil and finish the edge cleanly, so the bed drains and stays neat against the lawn or paving.

Flower beds built across Streatham
We build beds across Streatham, Streatham Hill, Streatham Park and Telford Park, and down into Streatham Vale and Furzedown. Three of our documented gardens with new beds are in Streatham and Streatham Hill.
Our yard is just down the road in Norbury, so materials and topsoil deliveries are simple to arrange.
How long are the brick flower beds you built in Streatham?
In Gemma's Streatham back garden we built two brick flower beds 7m long and 80cm wide, along a new closeboard fence.
Do you build raised sleeper beds in Streatham?
Yes. Andrew's Streatham garden has raised sleeper beds, built alongside brick walls, granite edging and a new turf lawn.
What does a garden with new beds cost in Streatham?
Mark's Streatham Hill garden, with a sandstone path, a bed on each side and new grass, was £6,500 including VAT. Gemma's back garden with two brick beds, fencing and a patio was £13,000.
Will plants grow in a raised bed on clay?
Better than in the clay itself. We loosen the ground under the bed and fill it with fresh topsoil so the roots have room and the water can drain away.
Brick or sleepers for a Streatham flower bed?
Brick is permanent and formal, sleepers are quicker and more natural. Gemma's beds are brick; Andrew's are sleepers.
Can beds go either side of a path?
Yes. Mark's Streatham Hill garden has a flower bed on both sides of the grass, alongside the sandstone path to the shed.
Do you remove the old soil and turf?
Yes. Everything dug out to make room for the beds is taken away, and waste removal is included in the price.
