Where the rain goes on a Streatham drive
Paving over a front garden removes the soil that used to soak up the rain, and in Streatham most gardens are mostly clay, which drains slowly in any case. On Gemma's drive the water is caught by eco drains and piped to a new soakaway, so it does not sit on the blocks, run towards the house or spill onto the pavement.

Edging that keeps the blocks in place
Block paving is held together by its edges. If the edging moves, the blocks start to spread and the joints open. On Gemma's drive concrete edging was set all the way round the perimeter before the blocks went down, so the whole surface is locked in against the kerb and the house.
