As local composite decking installers, we supply and fit composite decking across Beckenham BR3: low-maintenance boards on a new, well-built frame, finished with matching steps, edge and fascia boards. Our biggest composite deck in Beckenham is around 50m² under a custom pergola.
Composite boards are made to resist rot and splintering, and they do not need sanding, staining or oiling each year, which makes composite a popular choice when an old timber deck needs replacing. A wash down is usually all they need to stay looking smart.
The boards are only half the story. Under every composite deck is a timber frame, and that frame has to be right: joists at the spacing the board maker specifies, protected along the top, on solid supports. On Barry's deck in Kennington we protected every joist with DPC tape and laid heavy-duty membrane underneath before the grey composite went down.
Finishing makes a composite deck look built-in rather than added on. Fascia boards close off the sides, steps are clad to match, and hidden fixings mean there is not a screw in sight on top.
A garden stripped back and rebuilt in two weeks: a rendered retaining wall, around 20m² of curved beige porcelain, a 4m x 4m composite deck, steps, new turf and circular flower beds.

Materials & possibilities
Getting a composite deck right
These are the details we talk through on the survey, so the finished deck looks and performs the way you expect.
01
Board colour and finish
Choose with samples
Composite comes in greys, browns and wood-grain finishes. Michelle's raised deck in Greenwich is grey composite, and Caroline's in Brixton is Millboard Enhanced Grain.
02
Fascias and cladding
A finished edge
Fascia boards close off the sides of the frame. Michelle's raised deck is fully clad all around in matching grey composite, steps included.
03
Fixings
Hidden or face-fixed
Hidden fixings clip the boards down from the side so no screws show, as on Barry's grey composite deck in Kennington.
The frame under composite boards
Composite boards are heavier and more flexible than timber, so the joists underneath must be closer together and dead level, or the deck will dip between them. Our composite decks go on new timber frames: we protect the joist tops so water cannot sit on them, and keep the timber off the ground, which matters on Beckenham's heavier clay soils.

Custom pergola and composite decking in Beckenham
Carmel's garden in Beckenham had an old deck across the back of the house. We removed the old deck and its frame, fitted around 50m² of new composite decking with a step, built a custom 8m x 4m pergola over it, and fitted around nine closeboard panels down the side, in about 10 days for £18,000 including VAT. Drag the slider to compare before and after.
How much does composite decking cost in Beckenham?
Our composite decks range from just over £3,500 for decking around a garden office with astro grass in Thornton Heath, and £4,500 for a replacement deck on hidden fixings in Kennington, to £5,600 for a raised, fully clad deck with three steps. In Beckenham, around 50m² of composite with a custom pergola and fencing came to £18,000.
Composite is priced by the square metre of boards.

Composite decking across Beckenham
We fit composite decks across Beckenham, from the back doors of houses near Clock House and Birkbeck to the larger gardens of Park Langley and Kelsey Park. Carmel's deck, our largest in BR3, replaced an old timber deck across the whole back of the house.
Our base is in Norbury, SW16, about 4 miles away, and we cover the Borough of Bromley, including Shortlands, West Wickham and Penge.
How much did your composite deck in Beckenham cost?
Carmel's project was around 50m² of composite decking with a step, a custom 8m x 4m pergola and around nine closeboard fence panels, in about 10 days for £18,000 including VAT.
Does composite decking need treating?
No staining, oiling or sanding is needed. A wash down keeps it looking clean.
Is composite decking slippery?
Grooved and textured composite boards give good grip. We can show you samples of different surfaces on the survey.
What frame do you put under composite boards?
A new timber frame with the joists closer together than for softwood, protected along the top, as on Barry's deck in Kennington where every joist had DPC tape.
Can you hide the screws on a composite deck?
Yes. Barry's grey composite deck in Kennington uses hidden fixings, so there is not a screw in sight on the surface.
Can the sides of a raised composite deck be covered?
Yes. Michelle's raised deck in Greenwich, with three steps, is fully clad all around in matching grey composite, for £5,600 including VAT.
Which composite brands do you fit?
We have fitted Millboard Enhanced Grain, on Caroline's 25m² deck in Brixton, as well as grey composite boards. We bring samples so you can choose.
