The depth is what stops a drive rutting. Digging to 400mm gives room for a deep, compacted layer of Type 1 MOT hardcore and a sand bed above it, so the weight of a car spreads into firm ground instead of pressing the blocks into soft soil. It also leaves space to fall the surface gently away from the house towards the road or a drain.

Croydon Council, because Norbury is in the London Borough of Croydon. A new or widened crossover has to be approved before it is built, and we plan the drive levels to meet it.
